Jean Salas Reed
Executive Vice President
Jean Salas Reed is Hispanic and a native of New Mexico. She was reared in the South Valley in Albuquerque, New Mexico attending Atrisco Elementary, Ernie Pyle Jr. High and Albuquerque High. She graduated from the American High School in Chicago, Illinois and received her B.A. from Siena Heights University, in Adrian Michigan with a major in History and minors in English and Sociology. Jean received her M.A. from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she majored in Education Administration with a minor in Guidance and Counseling. She also received an Ed. S. in Education Administration with an emphasis in the development of Curriculum and Instruction. Jean worked as a School Principal at Harrington Jr. High and Capshaw Middle School for 12 years. She was then appointed the Assistant School Superintendent for the Santa Fe Public Schools, a position she held for eight years. She also worked as a Cultural Diversity Specialist for the New Mexico State Department of Education. She also taught Social Studies at the Middle School in Los Lunas, New Mexico. She also was an elementary school principal and teacher for private schools in New Mexico and California. She was selected as the State Secondary School Principal of the 1986 school Year and served as the first female president of The New Mexico Association of Secondary School Principals. She was the first Hispanic female President of the New Mexico School Administrators was named to Who's Who In America, Who's Who In The West and Who's Who of American Women. She has an article published in the Journal of Speech-Language Pathology, which she co-authored with Dr. Salas-Provance. She is currently serving on the Scholarship and Education Committee of the Hispano Chamber of Commerce in Albuquerque. Jean has served as the chair of the AHCC education committee. She has donated of her time for the last 10 years to the AHCC Education Committee.
